Benefits of Using Social Bookmarking Sites

Monday, February 15th, 2010 |

This post is about the many benefits of social bookmarking sites. I have been using social bookmarking sites for years now and have used them successfully to grow many aspects of both my offline and online businesses, create lasting relationships with people I have never personally met, connect and update my friends and family with text, videos and pics, find and connect with people whom have similar interests with me and also get my online work done more quickly and effectively.

Social Bookmarking sites are here to stay. It is not just a fad because these sites give several genuine benefits to its users. The benefits you get from such sites are long-term and for most users, it really changes the way they surf, search, market, conduct business operations, network and socialize online.

Here are some clear benefits that I have gotten from social bookmarking sites:

Discover sites. Yes, you will find sites that are different from sites you find on the search engines. When you do a search on social bookmarking sites, you will get results that differ than those on the search engines like Google and Yahoo because the search results on social bookmarking sites are powered and recommended by people like you and me. People bookmark and recommend sites that they like. Sites that they personally create or use. These will definitely differ than those on the search engines. Wouldn’t you like to get a site recommendation from other people that like those websites and have given a review on it?

Easy Bookmark and Share. We have to remember that social bookmarking sites are primarily and online bookmarking service. You can bookmark any site just like you would bookmark a site on your browser. Your online bookmarks are conveniently put online for you to access anytime and anywhere from any computer. You do not have to be on your computer to access your bookmarks. You can be in a different continent sitting in a cyber cafe and still have access to all your bookmarks. Now that is in itself a great service. An added benefit of this service is that you can share your bookmarks with others. Let say you bookmarked a funny YouTube video and you think your friends online might enjoy viewing it. Simply share the bookmark with them and they can too view the the YouTube video.

Online bookmarking sites like Tagfoot.com also provides services like wishlist, commenting, photo and video sharing and commenting and many other cutting-edge community services that allows you to share almost anything you do online with your friends and family.

Connect with Like Minded People. It is easy to see what people are bookmarking and sharing online. If you find someone that bookmarks the same thing or sites in the same topics you like, you can friend them online, follow their activities on the site and also connect with them. I have found a few people that have similar interests as mine and on a few occasions, we have even joined ventured on a few projects together. Correen and I became friends on Squidoo and Tagfoot and we share the same passion for food. We started FoodloversWeb.com together after several discussions and planning online at our favorite social site - TagFoot. Knowing people who have the same interest as you is always good as you can always bounce off ideas with them, learn from them and even partner with them.

Expose and Promote Your Businesses and Websites. Social bookmarking sites are a great way to promote your online and offline businesses. By bookmarking your businesses and sites online, you are creating an exposure for them. Your friends and followers will get familiar with your websites and might visit and use/buy your services/products. Your business bookmark will also be visible to people who search for your assigned tags and service on the bookmarking site. Search engines like Google also indexes your bookmarks and these bookmarks will also show up on the Google search results. Additionally, many bookmarking sites provide “do-follow” links which gives a solid backlink to your sites which search engine loves.

Connect with Friends and Family. Many bookmarking sites provide additional services that allow you to keep in touch with friends and family. You can upload photos and videos and share them with your loved ones. You can create an online journal and update people with what you are doing. They can leave a comment on any of your online bookmarks and postings - creating an instant platform for communication.

Generate a Passive Income. There are several social bookmarking sites that help their members generate an income by participating on their sites. There are a few revenue schemes available on several social bookmarking sites where members can share in the revenue with the site owners.

Social Bookmarking Sites have Different Benefits for Different People. Above are some of the features I use and like about social bookmarking sites. What I like and what works for me may not be the same as what you like and use. There are many features provided by social bookmarking sites that I don’t use while you may be using and loving those features. Social bookmarking sites work - they might work differently for each person - you get what you want and what you put into it.

I use several bookmarking sites and enjoy different benefits and success from each one. If I were to pick a favorite, I would say that TagFoot.com is definitely my favorite because it is not just a social bookmarking site - it is a thriving community of fun and intelligent people where I benefit from all of the above mentioned activities and more - such as site surfing through their Jump bar, read interesting bookmarks from my online friends, generate income via Adsense, Amazon and Chitika just to name a few additional benefits.

To conclude, I would like to encourage you to join and experiment with a social bookmarking site. There are hundreds of sites but just pick a few you feel comfortable with and share your passion and interest there. Get involved in the community and you will start to see your own benefits from them.

Multiplying Your Adsense Income From Your Articles

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009 |

Lately I have been writing a lot of articles on various sites and blogs to promote my sites, affiliate products and get backlinks. I use many platforms to publish my articles such as blogs, Bukisa, Hubpages, Squidoo, Xomba, DevHub, article directories and others to get my message out to new readers.

While doing this, it struck me that I could potentially earn more Google Adsense income from each and every article I wrote. I could use the same article and increase my Adsense income potential many times over. All I had to do was submit/bookmark my original articles on the different Adsense revenue sharing websites available.

You can do this with any article you have written on any platform. Whether it is a Squidoo lens, a hub, a blog article or any other article, video or presentations you have created and posted online.

By submitting or bookmarking your original content on the many Adsense revenue sharing websites, you are creating another content source from the original content on these websites and you will benefit from Adsense ads displayed on your content pages on the these sites. Adsense revenue sharing sites share Adsense ads impressions with you and you can possible earn from Adsense clicks on the these sites. Potentially multiplying and maximizing your Adsense income from one original article.

This is the general idea behind it and this is how I would do it:

  • To maximize the result of this method, I would first create an article on Bukisa. Bukisa pays you a fixed dollar amount on the number of views your content receives. As of right now, you earn $3.5 for every thousand unique views your content receives. You will be already generating an income from your article.
  • I would then submit/bookmark this article on several sites that share Adsense ad space with their members. Some popular sites that share Adsense ads includes:
  • TagFoot - 50% Adsense ads revenue share
  • AddBlogUrl - 100% Adsense ads revenue share
  • SheToldMe - 50% Adsense ads revenue share
  • Xomba - 50% Adsense ads revenue share

You need only to social bookmark on these sites and not submit the whole article. Just add your link and a brief description about the topic of your article. There are many more sites available that share their Adsense ads with you. Do a search to get a list of more sites.

Remember you can do this with any article or video you have published anywhere. It does not need to be a Bukisa article. By submitting and bookmarking your articles to these Adsense sharing sites, you will be maximizing the earning potential of your original content.

Note: When submitting your articles to the various sites, please keep in mind that you should not submit the same description on each one of the sites. Change the description of your article as much as you can on each site so that the search engine will index it properly and not think that it is duplicate content. That is the Right way to do it.

AddBlogUrl - Social Bookmarking with Revenue Sharing

Monday, October 26th, 2009 |

Social Bookmarking has become a big part of my everyday web usage and I really enjoy the fact that I can bookmark all my links online and share them with my friends.

I have recently launched my own social news/bookmarking site called AddBlogUrl.com. It is a Digg style site where users can register for free and share their news and sites publicly with others.

I would like to invite all readers of this blog to join this new site to discover new sites and stories and share your own. There are a few advantages to joining and participating at AddBlogUrl.com:

  • Discover news and websites of your interest
  • Share your finds and sites with the world
  • Access your submitted stories anytime and from anywhere
  • Network with friends
  • Gain Exposure and Backlinks to your personal sites
  • Earn Money - You get 100% Adsense Revenue share from your links.

Adsense Revenue Sharing - I have made this site to benefit members who participate by adding interesting and useful news to the site. For every news/story you submit to AddBlogUrl, a webpage is created. This page has 4 different Google Adsense blocks on them and all of them will display your Adsense ID’s all the time the page is viewed. That means you get 100% of all Adsense Revenue generated by your submitted links. Pretty cool, huh? After you sign in, just plug-in your Adsense code in your Profile section and you are all set to earn via AddBlogUrl.

I have many more sites in development for personal and public usage and will be sharing them with you as they complete. I hope you do find these sites useful. If you have an idea for a website that has mass appeal, let me know and I will see if I can create them for all to use.

Xomba - Publishing Platform with Adsense Revenue Sharing

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009 |

Today I want to talk about a site that has been generating me regular Google Adsense income for the past few months. I had joined Xomba a long while back but had not done anything with it. A few months back I re-visited the site and submitted some content and was shocked and happy to see the results I got. I managed to get visitors to my sites, got free backlinks and also got several Google Adsense clicks.

Xomba is an online publishing and bookmarking platform that is free to join. The site places Adsense ads on your content pages and displays your publisher ID 50% of the time. That means they share 50% of the Adsense adspace with you. Just enter your Google Adsense publisher ID in the back office and you are ready to start displaying your Adsense ads on all your content pages.

All you need to do to create content pages on Xomba is to either write an article (called Xombyte) or bookmark webpages and give a brief description - show and tell - (called Xomblurbs).

Xombytes are equivalent to full articles that should be about 300 words in length. It works the same as you would submit an article to an article directory. Write an article on any topic. The advantage to submitting a Xombyte is that you can add links into your articles.

Xomblurbs works like a social bookmark where you submit a link, tag your story and write a short description about the story. It is that simple. You get 50% Adsense adspace for both a Xomblurb and Xombyte.

Personally, I don’t know what it is about Xomba but I like the fact that I get great Adsense clickthroughs and I get visitors to my websites via Xomblurbs and Xombytes articles more than other similar sites.

So to wrap things up, here is a list of benefits to using Xomba:

  • Make money via Google Adsense
  • Get exposure and links for your websites
  • Get traffic to your websites
  • Network with other members

I suggest you give Xomba a try. If you see your Adsense earnings increase and traffic to your websites via Xomba, come back and share your success story with us.

Footing your sites

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008 |

For the past month I have been bookmarking my sites on Tagfoot.com. I have to admit that this has become my favorite social bookmarking and networking site. It is easy to make friends, bookmark websites and get targeted visitors to your sites.

Tagfoot is different from other social bookmarking websites in that it is a blend of Digg, Del.icio.us and a blog. You can bookmark your favorite sites, videos, articles and even wishlist. Other members can vote “foot” on your bookmarks just like Digg. You can even create a simple article pages called footnotes and have members and other readers read and interact with you by leaving comments.

It is also very easy to make new contact and add friends on Tagfoot. Once you bookmark a site you can immediately share your listing with your Tagfoot friends.  The whole process is easy and fast.

When you bookmark your items on tagfoot, you can choose to either make it a public listing (everyone can view it)  or a private listing (only you or selected friends can view it). This tool is pretty handy when you want to bookmark a site just for yourself to revisit later. You can also upload your Internet Explorer and Firefox bookmarks to the site with ease and access all your bookmarks on tagfoot from any computer with an internet connection.

That’s not all. My favorite feature of Tagfoot is that your bookmarks and listing also gets indexed on the search engines.  Google indexes your bookmarks on Tagfoot and this can bring in more traffic to your bookmarked sites.

Additionally, you can also earn money while using the site. They have an Adsense share program and will share 50% of Adsense adviews with you. Your Adsense ads will be shown 50% of the time when someone views any of your bookmarks, profiles or footnotes on the site. Isn’t that just great.

All in all, Tagfoot is fantastic and I am really digging it. Making new friends, sharing my sites and other finds with them, creating a backlink to my sites, getting my sites indexed on search engines, easily accessing my bookmarks online and all the while making passive income with Adsense - I would be a fool not to love it.

Tagfoot is currently in beta testing and you need to be invited to join the site. Don’t worry, here is my invitation to you.

Happy Footing!
